About Me – Toruń Tour Guide
Grzegorz the Raftsman
I am a tour guide in Toruń, and I share this city in my own way — unhurried, with a touch of nostalgia, and with deep respect for its past. I love Toruń for its atmosphere, its Gothic architecture, and the ancient walls that still bear the traces of centuries gone by. Every day I walk past these very same bricks, touch them, and think of the people who walked here before us.
Toruń never ceases to amaze me — with how it endures, constantly changing yet remaining a monument to history. In its narrow streets, you can still hear the echoes of ancient footsteps, while down by the river, the Vistula breeze carries the gentle murmur of the old port.
Exploring Toruń with me is more than just a walk past historic monuments. It’s an encounter with a place that breathes to its own rhythm — somewhere between the laughter of passersby and the quietude of ancient churches. Even when we follow well-trodden paths, I aim to uncover the city’s story in unexpected ways. Nothing brings me more joy than hearing a guest say they saw the city through a whole new lens.
If you like, after our classic tour, we can head down to the pier and set sail aboard a traditional raftsman boat. Seeing Toruń from the perspective of the Queen of Polish Rivers is the exact same view raftsmen marveled at for centuries. That’s where the story changes its pace, takes on a riverwise character, and lets you rediscover the city through its forgotten maritime roots and the raw spirit of the Vistula.
